Due to the preventative measures being taken around the world to combat the coronavirus (COVID-19), we understand many of you may be transitioning to working from home.
A lot of software you might be using in the workplace is only available in the office, costing you or your company thousands to help you work from home.
This is where Bluebeam Revu and the free collaboration solution Studio comes in.
To assist during these difficult times we’ve put together a guide of the most useful tips for working remotely in Revu, so that you can continue completing the projects so important to your customers, partners, and communities.
Better Understanding Revu:
Bluebeam Revu is a software application that allows users to markup, takeoff, organise, and collaborate with PDF files like never before. Here’s how.
More than simply a PDF viewer, or annotation tool, Bluebeam Revu is efficiency and collaboration software for anyone who works with technical files.
This applies to a wide range of industries, including construction, architecture, engineering, manufacturing, and energy related companies. The built-in tools and functions provide users in these industries a sleek and powerful tool to get work done quickly.
Because of this, many AEC professionals have switched to Bluebeam Revu as their default PDF software.
Although there are many different types of Bluebeam users, there are a few primary positions within architecture engineering and construction companies who are the primary drivers of Bluebeam within their organisation.
These can include:
Project Managers, BIM or VDC Directors, Chief Information Officers, Estimators and Architects.
So how can Studio help:
Studio is a FREE cloud collaboration solution that comes with your subscription to Revu. It allows its users to work remotely and in real time with anyone, anywhere. Meaning if you’re working from home, Studio is the perfect way to do that! Studio automatically comes with your Revu license, so there’s no added cost on top of your normal license.
When it comes to working from home, Studio makes it easy.
Setting up Studio:
- You can set up Studio via the prompts in Revu at any time.
- You may need to unregister your work computer and register your home computer in order to install Revu and Studio from home.
- Be sure to back up your setting with tool sets and profiles at work so that everything’s just how you left it when you start work from home.
Backing up and restoring settings
If you’re using Revu on a separate home computer, you’ll likely want to retain the same tool sets and profiles you use in the office. You can do this by backing up your settings, and then restoring those settings onto a new computer. Be sure to save your backup file to a portable device, or upload it to a location you can access from your new computer.
Downloading and installing Revu onto a new computer
You may need to download and install Revu if you’re using another computer outside the office. Revu 2019 uses the same installer across all editions. For Revu 2018 and below, be sure to download the edition specific to your Serial Number and Product Key. For example, if your license is assigned to Revu 2018 Standard, you won’t able to use the same licensing information for Revu 2018 eXtreme. You can find your Serial Number and Product Key on the license certificate sent to you by email@example.com.
If you don’t have access to the licensing information specific to your copy of Revu, download a personal free 30-day trial from our site. You’ll have full access to all features in Revu for 30 days. You’ll still be able to import all of your toolsets and profiles (as described above) so you can continue working as normal during this trial period.
Registering a new computer
If you’re the license owner and have access to your Serial Number and Product Key, you may want to unregister your office computer before using another computer outside the office. This will ensure you have enough seats available under your license. To do this, see Transferring your license to a new computer.
Studio Projects and Sessions
Studio allows you to keep working on your projects outside the office, even if you’re offline. Since Projects are stored in the cloud, you can access them from any computer with Revu installed. You can also continue collaborating with your project teams in real time with Studio Sessions. To learn more, see Studio Sessions and Studio FAQs.
